The School Council was set up at Shepherds Down School in 2006 to represent the views of the pupils.

Members of the School Council are elected by their peers at the beginning of the school year (September) and serve on the Council for that year.  Each Key Stage 2 Class is represented on the School Council.  Ospreys, Woodpeckers, Kingfishers, Sparrows and Puffins elect a main representative plus a vice representative within each class, as well as providing a representative for Jays, Doves, Magpies and Nightingales.

Meetings are held once a half term and are overseen by two members of staff who take the minutes.  Representatives bring the views of their classes on various topics to the meeting.

Topics for discussion have included school improvements, playground equipment, school rules and fundraising priorities.
